Excercise after Botox

Botulinum toxin A, better known as BOTOX, is considered the premium standard when talking about anti-aging solutions. While being the preferred non-surgical way of making the skin look younger, BOTOX injections can also be used for many other conditions.

The injections are primarily used to reduce dynamic wrinkles caused by movement, but can also help with a lazy eye, excess sweating and even treat migraines. Whatever the use, one question always comes up after a BOTOX procedureHow long after botox can you workout

To answer this question, let’s look at the recommendations for those that follow a healthy lifestyle routine.

How Long Should You Wait to Exercise After Receiving Botox Injections?

Once your BOTOX treatment is completed, the doctor will provide you with post-treatment recommendations. For all those dedicated to working out on a regular basis, only one question pops to mind – How many hours after botox can you work out?

The general rule of thumb is that you shouldn’t exercise for a minimum of 4 hours after the procedure, the ideal being 24 hours, to allow the BOTOX to settle properly.

However, you need to understand the importance of this recommendation. It takes 3 days for BOTOX to start taking effect, with the full effect being visible 2 weeks after getting the injections.

Will Exercising After Botox Affect the Results?

Returning to your regular exercise routine too early can diminish the procedure’s effectiveness. You’d want to allow the BOTOX injections to take effect properly and not go to waste.

Strenuous exercise increases blood flow, which can minimize the effectiveness of the injectable by diluting it or causing swelling of the injection areas. Your doctor will surely advise you not to touch your face for 24 hours after you have received the injection.

Why can’t you workout after botox?

Excessive movement post injections can cause the product to move around, affecting the results. Because you shouldn’t apply pressure on the injected areas. A lot of sweat is coming out during exercise, which you unconsciously wipe off vigorously and therefore apply pressure. Some people tend to make facial expressions during workouts, which is not recommended.

DON’T: Engage in Activities that Involve Bending Down or Putting Pressure on Your Head

When recommended not to workout after your BOTOX treatment, the doctors don’t refer only to exercising at the gym. Any form of strenuous exercise, including facial exercise or the use of tight-fitting headwear, is a definite NO! Yoga, swimming, and riding a bike are also not allowed. Why?

Because going for a bike ride or swimming laps requires wearing a helmet or goggles. In addition, doing headstands will also put pressure on the injected areas and can cause the BOTOX to move around.

Napping or lying flat is also not recommended for several hours after the procedure. The best thing to do is get back to your daily activities at work or home. If you notice any redness, you may apply some makeup without putting any unnecessary pressure and go about your day.

What Exercise After BOTOX is Safe?

BOTOX results are not immediate. For the first 24 hours, a light walk and giving yourself some time to relax did recommended. You may resume your normal exercise routine the next day.

It Puts Pressure on the Injection Site

Doctors will recommend you take it easy for the first 24 hours following your treatment. You’ll be cautioned to keep your hands away from your face for a minimum of 4 hours and even more. This is because the injection areas may be sensitive, and you can feel discomfort.

Another reason is that you shouldn’t be applying pressure to your face in this post-treatment period. If you wipe your sweat during workouts, you’ll probably be doing it without realizing it. Using facial gear like helmets and goggles should also be avoided post-treatment.

Increases Blood Flow

When we work out, especially during strenuous exercise, the heart really gets pumping and increases blood flow.  This can lead to prolonged swelling and bruising around the injection sites.

. Another issue that increased blood flow may cause is the injected BOTOX to move away from the injection area, causing an adverse result.

How to Care for Your Lips After a BOTOX® Lip Flip?

You may be familiar with lip fillers, but a Lip Flip is not the same. The BOTOX Lip Flip is a cosmetic procedure that makes your lips appear fuller but without adding volume. This is done by injecting the edges and corners of your lips with BOTOX. In turn, your lip muscles will relax and flip the upper lip slightly upward.

For the  first 24 hours post-treatment you may  have some swelling and tenderness in the lips. The following is recommended for  the best results until the injection areas heal.

  • Don’t touch or press your lips;
  • Use gentle motions when brushing your teeth;
  • Reduce inflammation by applying cold ice packs;
  • Don’t wear lip balm or lipstick;
  • Reduce drinking from a straw and kissing to the bare minimum.

How Long Will My Skin Be Red After a Vampire Facelift®?

A Vampire Facelift is a combined PRP and microneedling treatment. It involves micro-needles that puncture your face to activate a wound healing response.

It may sound scary considering the name Vampire Facelift, but the treatment is actually very beneficial. It boosts collagen production for a healthier, smoother, and firmer complexion.

This procedure requires planning for the post-treatment period because the skin will be red for a few days after the Vampire Facelift. We all have different skin types, and the recovery period will differ.

Some have experienced swelling, bruising, and tightness on the skin. Makeup is not allowed for several days after the treatment.
